Asia Europe Meeting - ASEM - is an informal forum for Heads of States in the EU, the ASEAN and associated countries. The heads of states hold biannual summits to discuss matters of mutual interest in the two regions. The forum has at an early stage endorsed thematic cooperation between the two regions, i.e. in the domain of education.
In 2007 the German government initiated the first meeting of education ministers - ASEMME 1, which took place in Berlin 2008. ASEMME 2 is being held in Hanoi, Vietnam, and ASEMME 3 will be hosted by Denmark in the spring of 2011.
So far ASEM education ministers have discussed issues regarding mobility, institutional cooperation, quality assurance and common standards, human resource development and lifelong learning. The Copenhagen meeting will focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, mathematical literacy and natural sciences. This website will feature relevant information related to ASEMME 3 and it will be developed as the planning proceeds.
