How should I interpret the Danish Marking Scale?

The new Danish Marking Scale was introduced at the upper secondary level on the 1st of August 2006 and at the other fields of education in August and September 2007.

The new scale replaced the old scale, which had 13 steps, because it was difficult to compare with marking scales in other countries. What made it particularly complicated was the fact that the European conversion system, the ECTS scale, contains seven steps. Thus, the new Danish scale, containg seven steps, makes international comparison more simple.
