If highly skilled foreigners are to choose Denmark as the destination of their future workplace, it is important that said foreigners have their children’s schooling covered.
For this purpose, international schools in Denmark currently offer classes ranging from history to math taught in English.
In a bid to create more school options for foreigners, Danish Minister for Education Bertel Haarder on Friday the 29th of January put forth a bill proposing the creation of the so-called international subsidiary schools in Denmark.
If the bill is passed private independent schools, offering education in other languages than Danish, will be able to franchise their schools to other parts of the country. Private upper secondary schools, which offer international exams giving access to further education in Denmark, will have the same opportunity.
Danish Minister for Education Bertel Haarder:
“We need to attract even more bright heads to this country. International competences are essential when developing the innovation and knowledge society of the future. More international schools offer an important incentive for highly qualified foreign labour moving to Denmark.
